Cholesterol is a substance found in everyone’s blood, and it is needed for good health. The problem arises when people have too much cholesterol resulting in higher risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other health problems.

Types of cholesterol:

  1. Total cholesterol
  2. LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) 
  3. HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol)
  4. Non-HDL cholesterol
  5. Triglycerides

Lifestyle changes including reducing the amount of saturated fat in your diet, losing weight, regular aerobic exercise, and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables

Treatment: cholesterol-lowering drug are indicated in some patient to reduce the risk of heart diseases
